Recall
Personal AI knowledge base that saves, summarises and links videos, podcasts, PDFs and articles and lets you query them in a chat.
What it does
Recall collects content from the web and from your own files in a personal knowledge base: you save YouTube videos, podcasts, PDFs, articles and notes, usually with one click via the browser extension or the app. The AI summarises them, optionally as audio, tags them automatically and links related items in a knowledge graph. In the chat you ask questions about your saved content; in the Max plan you choose the language model yourself, for example from OpenAI, Anthropic or Google. Quizzes with spaced repetition help you remember. Via API and MCP you connect your collection to other AI assistants, and you can export to Markdown.
Who it suits
Individuals who read and research a lot: consulting, further training, content and subject research where you collect sources and want to find them again quickly later. Recall is not designed for shared team knowledge bases.
Data protection for businesses
According to the privacy policy, Recall does not use your data to train AI models, for advertising or for profiling; there is nothing you need to switch off. Data is stored via Google Firebase; the vendor does not name a server region. The vendor does not explicitly offer EU data hosting. The vendor does not mention a data processing agreement. There are no business or team plans.
Limits
The free plan includes only 10 AI summaries a month, and Plus and Max are subject to a fair use policy. There is no native desktop app for Windows or macOS. The vendor does not name a legal entity: Recall describes itself as based in Amsterdam, but its terms of service are governed by Delaware (USA) law.
