pixx.io
Media database from Mühldorf am Inn that tags images, videos and documents with AI, makes them searchable and stores them in Germany.
What it does
pixx.io is a browser-based media database (digital asset management) for images, videos and documents. On upload, AI assigns keywords automatically, recognises faces and text in images and PDFs, and generates alt texts. Semantic search finds motifs even without matching keywords, and similarity search shows related images. On top come rights and license management, approval workflows, portals for press and partners, and integrations for Office, Adobe and Canva among others, plus a REST API.
Who it suits
Marketing and communications teams, public authorities and companies that store lots of media centrally, need to track usage rights and share material with outsiders in a controlled way.
Data protection for businesses
According to pixx.io, media is stored on servers in Germany, its information security management is ISO 27001 certified by TÜV Rheinland, as are the data centres. Image and face recognition run on Amazon Rekognition on European servers. The vendor states that AWS does not reuse your data. Whether pixx.io itself uses content for training, the vendor does not say explicitly. Smart tagging and face recognition are optional; you decide whether to activate them. pixx.io does not mention a data processing agreement on its public pages; request one via datenschutz@pixx.io. SSO and Active Directory are available from the Business plan.
Limits
There is no free plan, only a 14-day trial. Prices are per admin user, with a minimum number of users from the Team plan. Face recognition and the Make connection start with Team. The vendor does not mention desktop or mobile apps.
