Make
Visual platform for automating workflows across thousands of apps and building AI agents into those workflows.
What it does
Make lets you build workflows between apps, called scenarios, on a visual canvas. According to the vendor, more than 3,000 apps are available, including OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Gemini and Mistral. The AI agents (currently in open beta) let a language model make decisions and call tools; the editor shows every reasoning step. There is also a document extraction module, an MCP server and the assistant Maia, which drafts scenarios in a chat.
Who it suits
Teams connecting recurring tasks without programming: moving form enquiries into the CRM, extracting invoice data, pre-sorting support emails. Branching logic is easier to map here than with simple two-step automations.
Data protection for businesses
When creating an organisation, you choose a data centre in the EU or the US; this cannot be changed later. Hosting is on AWS. A data processing agreement is part of the terms. For AI modules using Make’s own AI provider, Make states that it neither stores your data nor trains on it; with your own providers such as OpenAI, their terms apply. Make is ISO 27001 certified and audited to SOC 2 Type II. Enterprise adds an isolated environment and longer log retention.
Limits
Billing uses credits; many runs and AI steps raise costs. The free plan allows only two active scenarios, and your own AI providers require a paid plan. Complex scenarios require learning data structures.
