Adobe Firefly
Adobe’s AI for images, video and audio – built into Photoshop and co., with its own models for commercial use.
What it does
Firefly is Adobe’s family of AI models. In its own web app you create images, videos, vector graphics, music and voice recordings; in Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere and Express the same technology appears as generative fill, expand or upscale. Besides Adobe’s own models, models from other vendors can be chosen in the same interface. Videos can be translated and dubbed into more than twenty languages.
Who it suits
Teams already working with Adobe: retouching, cut-outs, image variations for campaigns, quick drafts in a familiar tool. Also interesting for companies that care about traceable training data.
Data protection and rights
According to Adobe, its Firefly models are trained on licensed content (Adobe Stock and public-domain material), not on users’ content. Generated files can be labelled as AI content with “Content Credentials”. Clearance for commercial use applies to Adobe’s own models; for partner models, check their terms. Adobe offers legal indemnification only to enterprise customers.
Limits
Billing works with credits that are used up at different rates depending on the feature. Stylistically, Firefly often looks more sober than Midjourney.
