What it does
Midjourney turns a text description into images that often look designed straight away: atmospheric light, harmonious colours, clear visual ideas. You can create variations, repaint selected areas, extend images and keep a style or character consistent across several motifs. Still images can now also become short video clips. You work in the web interface or, as in the early days, via Discord.
Who it suits
Agencies and designers who want to explore visual directions quickly: mood boards, campaign ideas, draft key visuals, illustrations for blogs and social media.
Data protection and rights
Data is stored on servers in the USA; we found no option for storage in Europe. In the smaller plans, generated images are public in the gallery by default – private generation (“Stealth”) starts with Pro. Companies with more than one million dollars in annual revenue may use the images commercially only with Pro or Mega. According to the terms, prompts and images feed into further development.
Limits
No free trial on the website. Text in images, exact product depictions and logos are not reliable. For motifs with trademark risks, prefer a tool with clear licensing.
