FLUX (Black Forest Labs)
Image and video models from Freiburg that you can try in the browser, use via an API or, in some cases, run yourself as open weights.
What it does
FLUX is a family of models from Black Forest Labs. FLUX 3 Image creates images from text descriptions, edits existing images and renders text inside images cleanly; the smaller Klein variant is cheaper and faster. FLUX 3 Video produces clips of up to 20 seconds, with sound and spoken language if you want them. There are also tools for extending images, removing objects and virtual try-on. You can try the models in the browser-based Playground, and an API is available for production use. Some models can run on your own hardware as open weights and be fine-tuned with your own data.
Who it suits
Developers, agencies and product teams who want to build image or video generation into their own apps, shops or workflows. It also suits companies that need product images and visuals in large numbers or want to host the models themselves.
Data protection for businesses
For users in the EU, BFL GmbH in Freiburg is the controller. The api.eu.bfl.ai endpoint keeps processing within EU regions. On the website and playground, inputs and outputs may be used for training by default. To opt out, email privacy@blackforestlabs.ai with the subject “Training Opt Out”; according to the terms, legal@blackforestlabs.ai also works, effective for the future. The API terms contain no training clause. BFL mentions a data processing agreement only for enterprise customers on request, along with SOC 2 and ISO 27001 in its Trust Center; for the managed API it offers zero data retention.
Limits
There is no free allowance, and purchased credits are non-refundable. Links to finished images expire after ten minutes, so you have to store results yourself. Licences for commercial use of the open weights cost extra, and prices are mostly available only on request.
