AskVideo
Answers questions about YouTube videos and your own recordings based on the transcript, with timestamps pointing to the relevant spot.
What it does
AskVideo makes public YouTube videos searchable through their transcript: you paste a link, and after about a minute you can ask questions about the content and get answers with timestamps that jump to the relevant spot. From the Premium plan, you can also upload your own video and audio files for transcription and use a command-line tool with an API key. In the Pro plan, you group playlists or channels into collections, search across several videos at once and embed a chatbot about your videos on your own website.
Who it suits
Teams that draw a lot of knowledge from videos: recorded webinars, training sessions, expert talks or tutorials. If you publish your own learning videos, the widget lets you offer viewers a question assistant.
Data protection for businesses
The vendor is IndianAppGuy Tech Private Limited from Bengaluru. The vendor does not state a server location and does not offer EU data hosting. For answers and transcription, content is passed to services such as OpenAI, Google Gemini and AssemblyAI. The vendor does not mention a data processing agreement, and the privacy policy does not address the GDPR. The vendor does not say whether inputs are used to train AI models, nor does it describe a way to opt out. There is no business plan with specific data protection commitments – the Business plan only raises the quotas.
Limits
Indexing minutes and AI messages are capped per plan and month. Answers rely on the transcript, so anything shown only on screen is not taken into account. For confidential company videos, the contractual basis is missing.
