    Aleph Alpha PhariaAI

AI platform from Heidelberg for companies and public bodies, run in your own data centre, without internet access or as SaaS.

    What it does

PhariaAI is a software stack for building and running your own AI applications. PhariaAssistant is a chat interface that summarises and translates texts and extracts information from documents. In PhariaStudio you develop, test, evaluate and fine-tune models and applications. PhariaOS manages access, models and infrastructure, while PhariaCatch collects structured feedback from subject-matter experts. The platform also reads tables, drawings and scans, backs answers with source passages and runs agents with approval steps and full logging. Alongside models from other providers it runs the in-house model Kolibri: 78 billion parameters, specialised in German, with open weights under the Apache 2.0 licence.

    Who it suits

Larger companies and public authorities that have to run AI on their own hardware or in isolated networks and have an IT team for server and GPU operations. If you only need a chat assistant for office work, leaner services are a better fit.

    Data protection for businesses

You run PhariaAI in your own data centre, air-gapped, hybrid or as the vendor’s SaaS offering; when you host it yourself, the data stays entirely with you. The vendor does not mention a data processing agreement for the platform on its public pages. It also does not describe whether inputs are used for training; it stresses that confidential data stays with the customer. There are no fixed business plans; contracts are negotiated individually.

    Limits

No public prices; access goes through a demo and sales. Kolibri needs powerful GPUs, at least one H200 or two 80 GB A100s. Getting started requires experience with Kubernetes and Helm. In September 2026, Aleph Alpha and Cohere signed the agreement on their business combination. After closing, expected later in 2026 and still subject to approvals, the company will operate as Cohere with headquarters in Berlin and Toronto. Name and offering may change then.
