Zapier
US cloud service that connects more than 9,000 apps without code and runs workflows, including AI agents, automatically.
What it does
Zapier connects more than 9,000 web apps. In so-called Zaps you define that an event in one app – such as a new form entry or an incoming email – automatically triggers steps in other apps. Multi-step workflows with filters, branching and webhooks are available from the Professional plan. On top of that come Tables for data, forms, chatbots, AI agents and a Copilot that drafts workflows from a description. Via MCP, assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT can trigger Zapier actions.
Who it suits
Teams without in-house developers who want to automate routine work between CRM, newsletter, spreadsheets and calendar. The free plan is enough to try simple two-step workflows.
Data protection for businesses
Zapier stores data on AWS in the United States; the vendor does not mention EU data hosting. The data processing agreement with standard contractual clauses is part of the customer agreements. Content flowing through your workflows is not used for training on any plan. Zapier may learn from how your workflows are structured; Enterprise accounts are opted out automatically, on other plans you opt out via a form. SAML SSO is available from Team, custom data retention and SCIM on Enterprise.
Limits
Billing is per task, so costs rise noticeably with many workflows. Zapier cannot be self-hosted. You should check AI steps before using them in production.
