What it does
Lumen5 turns blog posts, scripts, PDFs or ideas into videos. From an article link, it writes a script and adds stock photos, clips and music to each scene. Narration uses one of 1,000+ AI voices or your own recording; a voice clone is added from the Starter plan. AI avatars and animated explainers are available. Captions, translation into more than 35 languages – German included – and formats for LinkedIn, YouTube or Instagram are included. A brand kit stores logo, colours and fonts.

Data protection for businesses
Lumen5 is based in Vancouver, Canada, but hosts all data on Google Cloud in Iowa, USA; there is no EU data hosting. AI features use OpenAI, ElevenLabs and D-ID, among others. According to its AI policy, data from the free and self-serve plans is used for training by default; only Enterprise accounts are excluded. Lumen5 has no DPA of its own but signs yours on request. EU representative: Bonn. The Team plan adds SSO and approval workflows.
Limits
The interface is English only, and the editor runs only in a desktop browser. Free videos carry a Lumen5 outro and are limited to two minutes and 720p; 1080p starts with Starter. AI voice and animation minutes are capped per plan.
