Jenni
Online editor for academic writing that suggests sentences and links each claim to the page and paragraph of your own source PDFs.
What it does
Jenni is an online editor for academic writing. As you type, an autocomplete suggests the next sentences. If you want, it draws only on the PDFs you uploaded and points to the page and paragraph of each source. Jenni formats citations in more than 10,000 styles such as APA or Chicago. A chat answers questions about your library with references, and a semantic search covers more than 200 million papers. The Reviews feature checks the claims in your text against your sources and flags anything unsupported. You import literature from Zotero or Mendeley and export to Word, LaTeX or HTML. Several people can work on the same document at once.
Who it suits
Research teams, universities, pharma and medical departments, market research and consulting: anywhere reports and specialist texts need clean source references.
Data protection for businesses
The vendor is based in the USA. Data is stored with Google (Firebase, Cloud Storage), and the vendor does not name a region. The vendor does not mention EU data hosting, nor does it mention a data processing agreement. According to the vendor, texts, prompts and uploaded files are not used to train language models. However, the analytics tool PostHog records a sample of editor sessions, including document text. You stop this by declining analytics cookies. For organisations there is a team offering with central billing and an admin dashboard, with prices only on request.
Limits
In the free plan, autocomplete, chat and Reviews are heavily limited. The vendor does not disclose which AI models run in the background. Suggestions can be wrong despite being tied to sources and do not replace your own review.
