E2B

Cloud platform where AI agents run model-generated code in isolated Linux sandboxes, controlled through Python or JavaScript SDKs.

What it does

E2B gives AI agents isolated Linux machines in the cloud. Each session runs in its own Firecracker microVM, so code produced by a model cannot reach other systems or customers. With SDKs for Python and JavaScript you start sandboxes, run commands and code, work with files and expose ports. Sandboxes can be paused, saved as snapshots and copied several times; outbound network traffic can be restricted by rule. The runtime, SDK and CLI are open source.

Who it suits

Development teams building coding agents, code interpreters or computer-use agents who don’t want to run generated code on their own servers. You choose the model and agent framework yourself.

Data protection for businesses

The default region is the US; data centres in the EU and Asia-Pacific are enabled by support from the Pro plan upwards. Sandboxes run on Google Cloud. E2B provides a data processing agreement on request, and a SOC 2 Type II report is available. The vendor does not say whether sandbox content is used for AI training. In the Enterprise plan (from $3,000 a month), sandboxes can run in your own AWS, Google Cloud or Azure environment.

Limits

In the free plan a sandbox ends after one hour and at most 20 run at once; in Pro it is 24 hours and 100 sandboxes. Billing is per second for CPU and memory, so costs depend directly on usage. E2B cannot be used without programming skills.
