OfficeDex
Desktop app with an AI agent that creates and edits Word, Excel and PowerPoint files locally, also with your own or a local model.
What it does
OfficeDex is a desktop app for Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. You ask the agent Dex via prompt to draft or make focused revisions to a document, a spreadsheet with formulas and charts, or a presentation; you can supply your own PowerPoint templates and source files. The built-in editor lets you edit files without AI and without Office installed. Chats, files and images are organised in projects. As the language model you use the hosted service or connect an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, including a local model.
Who it suits
Anyone who regularly builds reports, quotes, spreadsheets or slides and wants to use their own or a local model rather than handing documents to a cloud editor.
Data protection for businesses
Your working files stay on your computer. Prompts and relevant file content, however, go to the AI service you select; processing stays fully local only with a local model. The vendor does not say where the hosted service runs or whether inputs are used for training. The vendor does not mention a data processing agreement. There are no business plans yet; a paid licence for commercial use has been announced.
Limits
Only manual editing is free; AI costs credits or API fees with your provider. There is no installer for Linux yet. The website states neither the company’s location nor a privacy policy.
