Mistral Vibe
AI assistant from Paris-based Mistral AI for research, writing, data analysis and coding, with data stored in the EU by default.
What it does
Le Chat is now called Mistral Vibe; conversations and settings from Le Chat carry over. The assistant answers questions, researches the web, your own documents and connected tools, and turns the results into reports, presentations or email drafts. It analyses data, generates images and accepts voice input. For code there are extensions for VS Code, JetBrains and Zed: Vibe writes tests, refactors code and opens pull requests in the background.
Who it suits
Anyone looking for an all-round assistant from Europe who wants office work and coding in one tool. The Pro plan is comparatively cheap, and students pay less for up to twelve months.
Data protection for businesses
Mistral AI is based in Paris and stores data in the EU by default. Depending on the feature, data may briefly go to sub-processors outside the EU, covered by standard contractual clauses. In Free, Pro and Team, your inputs are used for training by default. You can switch this off in the admin area under Vibe › Privacy or in the app under “Data & Account Controls”; in the Team plan the setting applies to the whole organisation. In the Enterprise plan, training is off from the start. For business customers, the data processing agreement is part of the commercial terms. Thumbs-up/down feedback is always used for improvement.
Limits
All plans have fair-use limits, and the free plan tightly caps messages and web searches. SAML single sign-on and audit logs are only available in the Enterprise plan. Answers can be wrong and need checking.
