Meta AI
Meta's AI assistant in its own app, in the browser and in WhatsApp that researches, plans and generates images and videos.
What it does
Meta AI is Meta’s AI assistant. You use it in its own app, in the browser at meta.ai and in WhatsApp; Instagram and Meta’s AI glasses are set to follow. It answers questions, researches the web, creates plans such as meal or event plans, drafts slides and mood boards, and generates images and videos. With access to your calendar, it puts together a daily briefing for you. It runs on Meta’s own model, Muse Spark. For conversations you don’t want stored, there is an incognito chat.
Who it suits
Personal everyday questions and quick ideas, especially if you already spend a lot of time in WhatsApp or Instagram. The image and video features help with social media content. For automated customer chats, Meta offers a separate product, Business Agent.
Data protection for businesses
In the EU, Meta uses your questions and other interactions with Meta AI, as well as public posts by adults, to train its models. You can object at any time using an objection form; Meta sends the link via in-app notice and email. The vendor does not offer EU data hosting for Meta AI. The vendor does not mention a data processing agreement for the assistant, nor a business plan with specific data protection commitments. Confidential company or customer data should therefore stay out of it.
Limits
New features usually launch first in the US or in selected countries. More image and video generation is only available in the paid Meta One subscription. Answers can be wrong and should be checked.
