Cursor
A code editor built from the ground up for working with AI agents – based on VS Code, with cloud agents and code review.
What it does
Cursor looks like VS Code and supports its extensions, but puts the AI agent at the centre: you describe a task, the agent reads the files it needs, changes code, runs commands and presents the changes for approval. Tasks can keep running in the cloud while you work on something else. MCP lets you connect your own tools and data sources; a review bot checks pull requests.
Who it suits
Developers who want to work intensively with agents and are willing to switch editors. Well suited to prototypes and larger refactorings in familiar projects.
Data protection for businesses
With privacy mode on, Cursor neither stores code nor uses it for training; zero-retention agreements are in place with the model providers. On the Teams plan, admins can enforce the mode for everyone. A data processing agreement with standard contractual clauses is available, along with SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001. Without the mode, inputs may be used for training – so always switch it on for client code.
Limits
All requests go through Cursor’s servers, even with your own API key. We found no option for data storage in Europe. Agents work fast but not flawlessly; every change needs a careful look.
