Working student AI automation with n8n and Python (m/f/d)
Join vona as a working student and build automations with n8n, Python and AI APIs that save real clients hours of manual work every week.
What it’s about
In almost every company, someone copies figures from a website into a spreadsheet every week, emails the same report again or retypes data from one system into the next. Those are exactly the processes you will automate with us – using n8n, Python and the APIs of current language models. The position is 100% remote, you can work from anywhere in Germany, starting from 10 November 2026.
vona is a web agency from Leipzig that works remote-first: AI integration, web and app development, design, and SEO and GEO all come from one team. We use AI as a tool, not a gimmick, and before every project we agree on how success will be measured. Our clients are small and mid-sized businesses, skilled trades, startups and established brands across the German-speaking countries.
Our automated competitor analysis shows what this looks like in practice: a workflow built on Python and the OpenAI API checks competitors’ prices every week, stores changes in a PostgreSQL database and sends the team a finished report by email. Once a month, a PDF on ranking trends is added. The client saves more than 75% of the time and cost that used to go into researching this by hand. You can read more about our approach under AI integration.
Your tasks
- Build and extend n8n workflows that connect forms, email inboxes, databases and online stores.
- Write Python scripts for the steps no ready-made node covers, such as cleaning up data or reading information from web pages.
- Connect language models through their APIs, for example from OpenAI, Anthropic or Mistral, and write prompts that reliably return structured results.
- Test workflows with anonymized sample data, track down sources of error and add checks and notifications so that failures never go unnoticed.
- Document your workflows so that others on the team and on the client side can understand and maintain them.
What you bring
- You are enrolled at a university in Germany, for example in computer science, business informatics, data science or a related field.
- You have worked with Python before, whether in your studies, in personal projects or in a part-time job.
- You know what a REST API is, and JSON doesn’t scare you.
- You like working independently, but you speak up when you get stuck.
- You speak good German, as our clients are in German-speaking countries.
Nice to have, but not required: first experience with n8n, Make or Zapier, basic SQL, or a small automation project of your own that you can show us.
What we offer
- You work on real client projects rather than practice exercises – what you build ends up running in a company’s day-to-day work.
- You have a dedicated contact person and regular check-ins.
- You get access to current AI tools for your work, such as Claude, ChatGPT and n8n.
- Your hours fit around your semester schedule, and you work entirely from home.
- If it works well for both sides, this can turn into a longer collaboration, for example after you graduate – as a possibility, not a promise.
How to apply
Use the form at the bottom of this page and write a few sentences about who you are and what draws you to automation. One link is enough, for example to GitHub, LinkedIn or your CV. There’s no need for a formal cover letter. We usually reply within a week. Feel free to apply even if you don’t tick every box.
