iOS & macOS development internship – Swift (m/f/d)
Spend your internship building with Swift and SwiftUI: iPad apps for clients and our own macOS app that we use to run the vona website.
What it’s about
Native apps for Apple devices come with their own standard: they should feel like part of the system and still solve exactly the problem a business has day to day. In this internship you will learn how that works in real projects – from your first SwiftUI view to the version a client uses every day.
vona is a web agency from Leipzig that works remote-first and serves clients across German-speaking countries. AI integration, web and app development, design, and SEO & GEO sit in one team. We use AI as a tool, not a gimmick – in apps as well.
One example is the AI framing preview for specialty retail: a native iOS app for the iPad of a picture framing shop. The owner photographs the picture, the frame profile and the mat, and the app shows the finished, framed result in about 10 seconds – and, if wanted, on the wall of a living room, kitchen or bedroom. On top of that there is an in-house project: our own macOS app, written in SwiftUI, which we use to check the website, publish content, maintain our AI tools directory and chat with Claude. More under app development.
Your tasks
- Develop views and features in Swift and SwiftUI for iPhone, iPad or the Mac.
- Contribute to our macOS app, for example with a new view, a check step or clearer error messages.
- Connect interfaces – such as a REST API in PHP or Node.js, or a language model like Claude via its API.
- Test in Xcode on the simulator and on real devices, and write tests for the parts that have to run reliably.
- Document what you have built so that others can keep working with it.
- Use Claude Code to support your programming, and learn where it helps and where it’s better to think things through yourself.
What you bring
- You are studying computer science, media informatics or a similar subject.
- You have already built something in Swift – a small app, a university project or an experiment with SwiftUI.
- You know your way around Xcode and have run an app on a real device before.
- Good usability and Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines matter to you.
- Solid German, as you will work on projects for clients in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Nice to have, but not a must: experience with Swift concurrency, with shipping through TestFlight, or with a language model API.
What we offer
- Instead of a practice app, you work on software that clients – and we ourselves – use every day.
- A fixed point of contact supports you throughout the internship, with regular check-ins on progress and questions.
- You work with current AI tools such as Claude, Claude Code and the Claude API.
- We agree on your working hours flexibly, and you work hybrid – in Leipzig and from home.
- If things go well, you may be able to continue with us, for example as a working student or through a thesis. That isn’t a promise, but it is a real option.
How to apply
Use the form at the bottom of this page and tell us a little about yourself: what you study, what you have done in Swift so far, and whether this is a mandatory or voluntary internship. A link to GitHub, an app, LinkedIn or your CV is enough. No formal cover letter needed. You will usually hear back from us within a week.
